In the first half of Game 3, Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens had to take a timeout due to an injury. Despite this setback, he was able to keep his team in the game and win by 11 points.

The “Boston Celtics Head Coach Wife” is a story about the wife of Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens. The article discusses her background and how she became involved with basketball.

Who comes to mind when you think of one of the finest NBA teams ever? The Lakers come to mind right away, but the Bulls, Spurs, and Warriors should all be considered. With that stated, the Celtics are tied for the most titles in NBA history with the Lakers. It doesn’t get much better than the Boston Celtics when it comes to winning.

The Celtics have a long and illustrious history. The franchise is almost associated with success. When compared to other teams, they have an almost flawless record. With that in mind, here are the Celtics’ regular season and playoff records versus every NBA club.

Atlanta Hawks (Regular Season) 239-147, 42-29 (NBA Playoffs)

The Hawks and Celtics have a long history together. The series began in 1949, when the Hawks were known as the Tri-City Blackhawks. According to the record, the Hawks win one game for every two that the Celtics win. Boston’s track record is solid, with the team once having a 100-50 record.

In 1957, 1958, 1960, and 1961, the Hawks and Celtics faced off in the NBA Finals. In 1959, the Hawks were victorious. They’ve been knocked out in the first or second round ever since. The only postseason series the Hawks have ever won against the Celtics is the 1958 Finals.

Brooklyn Nets (Regular Season) 134-73, 3-12 (NBA Playoffs)

The Celtics didn’t begin playing the Nets until after the club had left the ABA and was still based in New Jersey. During the Larry Bird-led 1980s period, the Celtics had a 55-17 lead at one point. It didn’t get much better in the 1990s and 2000s, when the Celtics were up 106-54 at one point, including a 12-game winning run. The Celtics had a 10-game winning run from 2015 to 2019.

In 2002 and 2003, the Nets defeated the Celtics. In each of those years, the Nets defeated the Celtics on their route to the NBA Finals. In the 2021 playoffs, the clubs met again, with Brooklyn beating the Celtics in the first round. Overall, Boston has never defeated Brooklyn in the postseason.

Hornets of Charlotte, 70-45 (Regular Season), 1-3 (NBA Playoffs)

The Celtics won the first ten games after the Hornets joined the league. Eventually, throughout the early 1990s, this led to a 17-3 edge. When the Hornets got several of its key players back together, including as Dell Curry, Alonzo Mourning, and Muggsy Bogues, they rallied back to tie the series 23-23 in 2000. With the exception of a seven-game winning run in the mid-2010s, the series has been reasonably close since then.

Since 1993, the two clubs haven’t played in the playoffs. The Hornets took a 3-1 lead in the series. In 2022, with both clubs hanging around the play-in picture, a playoff series between Boston and Charlotte might be played for the first time in 29 years.

The Chicago Bulls finished the regular season with a record of 127-108 and an overall record of 18-5. (NBA Playoffs)

The Celtics had a 67-32 lead before Michael Jordan joined the NBA. The Celtics beat the Bulls ten times in the first two years of Jordan’s career. Chicago didn’t have their own 10-game winning run until the 1994-1995 season, which Jordan missed in part, and lasted until 1997. Both sides have kept this series competitive since then.

The Celtics have won all five meetings between the two clubs in the playoffs. In 2009, the eighth-seeded Bulls pushed the No. 1 seed Celtics to seven games, making it the most memorable series in franchise history. The Bulls survived a three-overtime thriller in Game 6 to keep their season alive. The Bulls also won their first postseason series versus Boston in that matchup.

The Cleveland Cavaliers won 136-83 in the regular season and 22-24 in the playoffs (NBA Playoffs)

The Celtics had won 16 consecutive games against the Cavaliers at one time in their history. In the mid-80s, the Celtics had a 58-20 lead. In the early 2000s, the Celtics established another 13-game winning run. From 2004 through 2007, LeBron James was able to lead the club to its finest run, which included a seven-game winning streak. The Celtics had a nine-game winning run from 2017 to 2020.

The Celtics and Cavaliers have had a lot of recent meetings. In the playoffs, the teams have met in 2008, 2010, 2015, 2017, and 2018. The Cavaliers beat the Celtics in the Conference Finals in 2017 and 2018, including a seven-game series in 2018. LeBron James led the Cavaliers to losses in 2015, 2017, and 2018.

(Regular Season) Dallas Mavericks 42-39, 0-0 (NBA Playoffs)

The Celtics won the first 11 games after Dallas joined the league in 1981. The Celtics had won 17 of the first 20 matches by the end of the 1980s. This triumph lasted far into the new millennium. Dallas didn’t had a six- or seven-game winning run until Dirk Nowitzki arrived in town. The Mavericks have knotted the series 35-35 by 2016. This will be a competitive series between Jayson Tatum and Luka Doncic.

In the playoffs, the two clubs have never met. Because Boston is in the Eastern Conference and Dallas is in the Western Conference, the two clubs would have to play in the NBA Finals. Dallas has reached the Finals twice, both times against the Heat.

(Regular Season) Denver Nuggets 58-37, 0-0 (NBA Playoffs)

Until the mid-2000s, when the Celtics started to pull away, the Nuggets and Celtics were quite competitive. The Celtics had a 15-game lead at the conclusion of the Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce era. Even with Nikola Jokic in town, the Celtics have always managed to keep the series under control.

The Nuggets, like the Mavericks, have never faced the Celtics in the playoffs. The Nuggets have never reached the NBA Finals, therefore a meeting between the two clubs would be inconceivable. Perhaps it will do so in the future.

24-21, 245-140, 245-140, 245-140, 245-140, 245-140, 245-140, 245-140 (NBA Playoffs)

This series dates back to 1948 and features two of the NBA’s founding clubs. The Celtics have won the majority of their encounters by a wide margin. In the 1950s, the Celtics won 17 consecutive games versus the Pistons. In the 1970s, the Celtics went on an 11-game winning run. Detroit’s only long-term success versus Boston was the Chauncey Billups, Ben Wallace, and Rip Hamilton dynasty.

The two clubs competed in the Conference Finals in 1987 and 1988. Before Isiah Thomas led the club to victory over the Celtics in 1988, the team won seven games in a row in 1987. In 1990 and 1991, Detroit defeated Boston for the second time. In 2008, the Celtics avenged themselves by defeating Detroit in the Conference Finals.

(Regular Season) Golden State Warriors 207-138, 16-7 (NBA Playoffs0)

The Warriors first played in Philadelphia in 1947, therefore this series goes back to 1947. The Celtis did not take charge of this series until the middle of the 1950s. The Bill Russell era was very beneficial to Boston, as the squad was able to pull away from the pack. The Celtics went on to win even more games under Larry Bird’s leadership. The Celtics had a 175-108 lead at the conclusion of the 1980s. It didn’t matter whether the Warriors were at the peak of their game with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. The Celtics have always gotten their way with the Warriors.

Since 1964, the two clubs have not played in the playoffs. The Celtics have won all four postseason series out of a total of four occasions. There would be countless stories if the Celtics and Warriors ever met in the NBA Finals.

The Houston Rockets finished the regular season with a record of 94-55 and a record of 16-5. (NBA Playoffs)

The Celtics started the series with a 10-game winning streak and went on to win 31 of the first 40 games. The Celtics had a 40-game lead on the club at the conclusion of the 1970s. The Celtics had an 82-39 record by the mid-2000s. Houston has never been able to consistently defeat Boston, from Hakeem Olajuwon to James Harden.

The Celtics and Rockets played in the playoffs in 1975 and 1980, with the Celtics defeating the Rockets in the semifinals both times. The Rockets won the Western Conference and advanced to the NBA Finals in 1981. The club was beaten there, and Larry Bird earned his first NBA title. In the 1986 NBA Finals, the two teams faced again, and Boston triumphed again, completing Bird’s perfect season.

Indiana Pacers (Regular Season) 103-82, 17-12 (NBA Playoffs)

There was a period when the Celtics had a 30-game lead, but Reggie Miller helped them close the gap. By the year 2000, the Celtics had just a ten-game lead in the series. Since then, no side has won five games in a row against the other.

The Celtics beat the Pacers in the playoffs three times: in 1991, 1992, and 2003. The Pacers swept Boston in their debut series in 2004. The club was eliminated in seven games the next year, in 2005. In the first round of the 2019 playoffs, the Celtics swept Indiana in four games.

8-4, 91-45, Los Angeles Clippers (Regular Season) (NBA Playoffs)

The Celtics beat the Clippers 22 times in a row when they initially joined the league, compiling a 22-0 record. The Celtics went on an 11-game winning run during the Bird years. The Clippers’ longest winning streak is four games. Against this franchise, the Celtics have always performed well.

In the playoffs in 1974 and 1976, the two clubs clashed. The Clippers were still headquartered in Buffalo at the time. Both times, the Celtics prevailed in six games. It will be in the NBA Finals if the two clubs meet again.

Los Angeles Lakers (Regular Season) 163-133, 43-31 (NBA Playoffs)

During the 1950s, the Celtics beat the Lakers 19 times in a row. The Lakers went on a nine-game winning streak after stopping the Celtics from winning 20 games in a row. Despite the fact that this matchup has included star players, the Celtics have won 30 games more than the Lakers.

This was occasionally an automatic NBA Finals berth in the playoffs. The two clubs have played 12 times in the NBA Finals, accounting for every meeting in the playoffs. This is a legendary back-and-forth showdown that included Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, and Shaquille O’Neal.

(Regular Season) Memphis Grizzlies 32-19, 0-0 (NBA Playoffs)

Until the 2010s, the Celtics and Grizzlies were a reasonably competitive team. The Celtics have won 11 of their past 12 games, including a 10-game winning run, dating back to 2015. Only twice a year do the two teams meet.

The two clubs would have to meet in the NBA Finals during the playoffs. The Grizzlies have never reached the NBA Finals, so there’s a minimal chance they’ll do it anytime soon. However, an NBA Finals featuring Jayson Tatum and Ja Morant would be entertaining to watch.

Miami Heat (Regular Season): 78-50, 10-13 (NBA Playoffs)

The Celtics won the first 10 games of the series and 13 of the first 14. The Heat, on the other hand, went on a nine-game winning run in the 1990s, bringing the series to 30-20 by 2000. Despite the presence of superstars like as Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, and Shaquille O’Neal, the Celtics maintained a competitive advantage, leading the series by over 30 games.

The Celtics and Heat developed a friendly rivalry in 2010, 2011, and 2012. On one side, you had Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, and on the other, you had LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. The Heat advanced to the Finals in 2011 and 2012 by defeating the Celtics, while the Celtics advanced to the Finals in 2012 by defeating Miami. This series shattered a connection between Celtics players and Ray Allen, who went on to win another championship with the Miami Heat.

Milwaukee Bucks (Regular Season) 114-108, 21-18 (NBA Playoffs)

The Bucks have an 11-game winning run over the Celtics thanks to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Aside from that, the Celtics have exploited a series of mini-win steaks to grab control. Giannis Antetokounmpo has yet to find a method to overcome Boston, which is why the Bucks have a slim lead.

In the 1974 NBA Finals, the two teams clashed. The Celtics needed seven games to deny Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson a second championship. The Bucks were then eliminated by Larry Bird in 1983, 1984, 1986, and 1987. With the exception of a victory in 2019, Boston has had the Bucks’ number even when the series has gone the distance.

(Regular Season) Minnesota Timberwolves 41-21, 0-0 (NBA Playoffs)

This series was competitive while Kevin Garnett was a member of the Timberwolves, which is ironic. Because if he departed, the game was finished. The Celtics started to win more games, while Minnesota started to tank, dropping as many as ten in a row. Boston has won 10 of the previous 11 encounters since 2016.

In the playoffs, the two clubs have never met. If Minnesota continues on its current path, they will almost certainly never meet. In the NBA Finals, the two clubs would have to face off. That does not seem to be the case anytime soon.

(Regular Season) New Orleans Pelicans 22-21, 0-0 (NBA Playoffs)

What if we told you that the Celtics had one of the most contested series in team history with the New Orleans Pelicans? This has always been a back-and-forth battle. Between the two teams, the longest winning run is four games. The Celtics can’t seem to figure out New Orleans, from Chris Paul to Anthony Davis.

In the playoffs, the two clubs have never met. The two teams would play in the NBA Finals, something New Orleans has never reached. If that occurred, it would almost certainly be a seven-game series.

New York Knicks (Regular Season) 299-186, 36-31 (NBA Playoffs)

This year’s matchup between the Knicks and the Celtics has already been completed. The Celtics will have a chance to win their 300th game versus the Knicks when the two teams meet next year. During the 1990s, the Knicks defeated the Celtics 21 times in a row, with Patrick Ewing leading the way.

The Knicks defeated the Celtics in three consecutive seasons, 1951, 1952, and 1953. The Knicks and Celtics competed in the Conference Finals in 1972, 1973, and 1974. In 1973, the Knicks won on their route to capturing the NBA title. Both visits in the 1980s and one in 2011 were won by the Celtics. With a victory against Boston in 2013, Carmelo Anthony lead the Knicks to the second round.

(Regular Season) Oklahoma City Thunder 76-64, 0-0 (NBA Playoffs)

The Celtics’ longest winning streak is six games. The Thunder’s longest winning streak is six games. These two teams have kept it tight, but the Celtics have the upper hand for the time being.

In the playoffs, the two clubs have never met. The Thunder are a Western Conference team that used to be known as the Seattle SuperSonics. The two clubs have never met in the NBA Finals or the playoffs.

(Regular Season) Orlando Magic 72-51, 8-9 (NBA Playoffs)

This series grew more difficult once the Magic selected Shaquille O’Neal. The series remained difficult even after he departed. In 2001, the two teams were deadlocked at 21-21. Following a back-and-forth, the Celtics won ten consecutive games from 2011 to 2013 to pull away. The Celtics have added two six-game winning streaks since then, and have won nine of their past ten games versus Orlando.

The Celtics have lost more games in the playoffs than they have won. The Magic won their series in 1995, and then again in 2009, when they advanced to the NBA Finals. Dwight Howard almost led the Magic back to the NBA Finals in 2010, but was defeated in six games by Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen.

76ers 264-195 (Regular Season), 62-47 (Playoffs) (NBA Playoffs)

This series began in Syracuse, while the 76ers were in town. It wasn’t until 1958 that the Celtics were able to tie the series at.500. The Celtics pulled away in the 1950s and 1960s thanks to strong seasons from Bob Cousy and Bill Russell. The Celtics then won 20 consecutive games from 1971 through 1974. In the 2010s, the Celtics also had an 11-game winning run.

In the playoffs, these two are often pitted against one other. It would take a long time to go through every detail of their meetings, but here’s what we know thus far. In 1980, 1981, 1982, and 1985, the two clubs played in the Conference Finals. Because these were postseason games, the two clubs shared the series.

74-59, 4-2 (Regular Season) Phoenix Suns (NBA Playoffs)

In this series, Boston does not have a lengthy winning run. The Celtics have a history of grinding out victories, with the longest winning streak dating back to the 1980s at eight games. Because the two teams don’t play each other very frequently, it’s reasonable if they split games.

In NBA history, the two teams have only met once. The Celtics and Suns met in the NBA Finals in 1976. The series lasted six games, with the Celtics emerging victorious. The Suns have yet to win an NBA title.

(Regular Season) Portland Trail Blazers 71-49, 0-0 (NBA Playoffs)

The Celtics won 17 consecutive games from 1971 through 1975. The squad had a 42-22 record in the early 1990s. The Celtics have always found a way to beat Portland, from Clyde Drexler to Damian Lillard. The club has never been able to defeat Boston on a sustained basis.

In the playoffs, the two clubs have never met. Bird was beyond his peak and ready to retire when Portland created their competitive squad in the 1990s. In the 1990s, the Celtics were not a well-rounded competitor. Their argument time had been messed up. Maybe we’ll see these two clubs in the NBA Finals one day.

Sacramento Kings (Regular Season) 187-119, 11-6 (NBA Playoffs)

Up until 1958, the Royals had a competitive edge. Despite Oscar Robertson’s presence, the Celtics had won 13 consecutive games. Robertson’s rival, Bill Russell, was instrumental in Cincy’s failure to reach the NBA Finals. When it comes to games versus the Kings, the Celtics are still often victorious.

Since the Oscar Robertson era, the two clubs have not played in the playoffs. In 1963, 1964, and 1966, the two teams played. The Celtics were victorious each time. Russell has Robertson’s phone number after everything is said and done.

San Antonio Spurs (Regular Season), 41-58 (2-0). (NBA Playoffs)

The Spurs are the only team that really owns the Celtics. In 1981, the series was deadlocked at ten victories each. The Celtics had the upper hand after the 1980s. The Spurs were then captained by a guy called Tim Duncan, who kept the club competitive all the way until his retirement. He and Kahwi Leonard led the team to a combined 11-game victory run.

In 1977, the two teams faced off in a best-of-three series. Both games were won by the Celtics. The Celtics and Spurs should have only met in the NBA Finals once, we can all agree. Duncan against. Garnett would have been a fantastic contest.

(Regular Season) Toronto Raptors 62-41, 4-3 (NBA Playoffs)

The Celtics won eight consecutive games from 2007 to 2010. Aside from that, Boston’s longest winning run is four games. The Celtics have just won a lot of games. The Raptors have only ever won five consecutive games. Aside from that, Boston has had complete control of the situation.

The two clubs have only met once in the playoffs. It was also recent. In the 2020 semifinals, the two teams faced off in a seven-game series. The Raptors attempted a comeback sans Kawhi Leonard after winning in 2019. The Raptors came close, but fell short in Game 7 92-87.

(Regular Season) Utah Jazz 58-45, 0-0 (NBA Playoffs)

The Jazz, even with Karl Malone and John Stockton, were never able to regain a competitive lead in this series. In the 1990s, they had a 14-game losing skid against the Jazz. In this series, the Jazz have never led Boston. When you consider the history of these two teams, there is a compelling narrative.

The two clubs have never played in the playoffs. The Jazz have only been in the NBA Finals twice in their existence. The Celtics were not a playoff team in the 1990s. Jazz, on the other hand, is on the upswing. The Celtics are a fun team to watch. This may be a potential NBA Finals in the 2020s.

Washington Wizards (Regular Season) 195-119, 13-9 (NBA Playoffs)

This series dates back to the days when the Wizards were known as the Chicago Packers and Chicago Zephyrs, respectively. At one point, the Celtics led 26-3. This includes a 40-game winning streak in the first 50 games. In 1971, the score was 60-27. During the regular season, there has never been a competitive series. By 2024, the Celtics might have 200 victories against the Wizards.

The Wizards have only won one series, in 1975, when they were known as the Bullets. The Celtics defeated them twice in the 1980s, in 1982 and 1984. They didn’t play again until 2017, when the two teams clashed for the first time. Washington had its finest season in modern history, but the Celtics knocked them out in seven games.
